Kathmandu (Nepal), July 15 (ANI): In a bid to boost bilateral and cultural ties between India and Nepal, New Delhi recently handed over relief material to the Government of Nepal. Every year, the Himalayan nation faces a natural disaster during the Monsoon season and the relief material will help cope with the situation. This comes in line with India’s outreach programme towards its neighbours, of which Nepal is an essential part and a favoured partner. During the ceremony, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava handed over the consignments to Nepal’s home minister, Bal Krishna Khand. The relief material includes 3000 tents and ten motor inflatable boats. Indian Envoy to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava expressed that this timely supply of relief material is optimally utilized by concerned agencies to ensure its maximum benefit by timely distribution and efficient utilization. In Nepal, the monsoon season starts from June and lasts for Four months. India has said time and again that it will continue to push for policies that are beneficial for both the countries and will assist its neighbour during any crises. Although the India-Nepal diplomatic relationship was formalized in the 1950s with the Indo-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship, the trade and people to people connections between the two neighbours have been in existence and have flourished for centuries. While acknowledging India’s efforts for the people of Nepal, Kathmandu too has maintained that India is one of its oldest and closest allies and it has resolved to further deepen ties in the future.
