New Delhi, October 14 (ANI): After Canada made “absurd, motivated” allegations against India over alleged involvement in acts of violence. India on October 14 lodged a strong protest against Canada and summoned Canadian diplomat in Delhi. After being summoned, Canadian Chargé d'Affaires Stewart Wheeler visited the Ministry of External Affairs. In a recent ‘provocation’, Canadian Govt recently said that Indian HC and other diplomats are ‘persons of interest’ in a matter related to “an investigation”. Following Ottawa’s recent move, Indian govt strongly rejected Canadian allegations. Indian Govt called the accusation ascribed to the political agenda of Justin Trudeau Govt, focused on vote bank politics. Justin Trudeau accused India of possible involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. Diplomatic row between India and Canada escalated after Canadian PM Trudeau alleged possible Indian hand in killing of a Sikh separatist on Canadian soil. But since last year in Sept 2023, Canada has not provided any evidence to support its claims despite multiple requests from India. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot and killed in June 2023 by two masked gunmen outside a Sikh temple he led in Surrey, British Columbia.
