New York (UN), April 04 (ANI): Permanent Ambassador of India to the United Nation, Ruchira Kamboj addressed the informal meeting of the general assembly on the Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) on the security council reform. While addressing, she shared that India is in favour of the expansion of the United Nations Security Council membership in both permanent and non-permanent categories. Adding further, she said that this is the only way to achieve genuine reform of the security council and make it representative, responsive and expensive. She said, “India is in favour of the expansion of the United Nations Security Council membership in both permanent and non-permanent categories. This is the only way to achieve genuine reform of the security council and make it representative, responsive and expensive. A total of 113 members out of 122 who submitted their positions in the framework document, supported expansion in both of the existing categories specified in the charter. More than 90 pc of the written submission in the document are in the favor of expansion in both categories of membership specified in the charter.”
