Colombo (Sri Lanka), July 21 (ANI): Amid the deepening economic crisis in Sri Lanka, India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka on July 21 highlighted India’s help to the island country. He also stated that Sri Lanka is India’s closest friend and they always stood with the people of Sri Lanka. While speaking to ANI, the Envoy said, “India has always stood with the people of Sri Lanka, it's our closest friend, and partner and we are both democratic countries. So, it has been the endeavour of India to come to Sri Lanka's help when help was requested with great urgency.” “The type of assistance and support India rendered to Sri Lanka, it hasn't rendered to any other country ever to the best of my understanding. We'll continue to be supportive of the requirements of the people of Sri Lanka,” he added.
