India to chair Libya Sanctions committee amid international focus on peace process

New York (USA), Jan 08 (ANI): As India will chair 3 key subsidiary bodies of UN Security Council, including the Libya Sanctions committee also called the 1970s sanction committee, TS Tirumurti informed that India will assume the chair of this committee when there is an international focus on Libya and on the peace process. “The Libya sanctions committee also called the 1970s sanction committee is very important subsidiary body of the council which implements the sanction regime including a two way arms embargo on Libya and assets freeze and travel ban on elicit export of petroleum and etc. We will be assuming the chair of the Libya Sanctions Committee at a critical juncture when there is an international focus on Libya and on the peace process,” said Permanent Representative of India at United Nations Security Council, TS Tirumurti.
