IKEA calls organisations to increase relief support for India, donates EUR3 million

Geneva (Switzerland), May 12 (ANI): Amid the devastating second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and crippling health care infrastructure of India, several national and international bodies including world governments and World Health Organization (WHO), have extended their support to the country to fight this pandemic. Citing the unprecedented healthcare challenges in the country, IKEA foundation on May 12 announced that the company has donated 3 million euros to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to help the people of India to emerge from COVID crisis. “Like many people around world we see the horrific impact and the tragedy of the pandemic unfolding every single day. The IKEA foundation has its roots in India and we stand with the people of India. We have donated 3 million euros to MSF to help the people of India to emerge from this crisis. The health care is causing unprecedented healthcare challenges,” said Per Heggenes, CEO IKEA Foundation. Per Heggenes further urged world’s governments, businesses and philanthropies to join IKEA in order to increase relief support for the people of India. “We all need to come together and do our part to stop this COVID-19 pandemic and support ongoing life saving medical activities,” he added.
