Ghanche, Gilgit Baltistan, 17 August 2021: - Hundreds of residents of Ghanche district of illegally occupied Gilgit Baltistan have camped on the major streets in line of their sit-in protest against the government demanding the postings of senior, specialist doctors in the district government hospital. Their key demands include immediate posting of a senior gynecologist -- absence of which they say has resulted in several deaths -- and immediate filling of vacancies of other senior doctors. They alleged that the district hospital Khaplu was not just ill-equipped to handle diseases associated with women and the childbirth equipment-wise but critical cases were also being handled by junior doctors with little experience.
