Gilgit Baltistan: Locals demonstrate as govt. turns blind eye to rampant land grabbing

Gilgit Baltistan, 01 February,2022: - A large number of people took to the streets of Gilgit – the capital of illegally occupied Gilgit Baltistan to demonstrate against both the local and Pakistani government accusing them of facilitating rampant land grabbing by mafias in the region. They accused Islamabad of providing a No Objection Certificate to the land mafias, who have grabbed several acres of land in the region. Calls of those leading the protests have resonated with the large section of the region and the demonstrations are now gathering steam. Demonstrators urged the people present in the protests to come together for the common goal of cornering government on the issue until they reclaim what is rightfully theirs.
