Shigar, Gilgit Baltistan, 18 January 2022: - A large number of locals in the Shigar district of illegally occupied Gilgit Baltistan demonstrated against the government, especially the law enforcement agencies after they arrested a social activist Ahmed Cho Shigari for expressing his dissenting opinion on a social media platform. They chanted slogans against the Superintendent of Police and urged him to bust real crimes and apprehend real criminals such as those involved in smuggling, instead of harassing common citizens. The protesters also said that the police had launched a crackdown against the people of the region and had created a situation reminiscent of a despotic rule.
