EAM S Jaishankar welcomes decision to reopen Australian borders after two years

Melbourne (Australia), Feb 12 (ANI): External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on February 12 welcomed the reopening of the Australian border which will help stranded Indian students and visa holders to return to Australia. EAM addressing a joint Press Conference with Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne in Melbourne said, “We shared our experiences responding to the COVID challenge and also assisting other countries, particularly with vaccines. We have committed ourselves to building more trusted and resilient supply chains, ensuring broad inclusive growth in Indo-Pacific.” “I welcome the opening of borders by the govt of Australia which will help those who have been in India waiting to come back especially students, temporary visa holders, separated families and this is something which is greatly appreciated,” EAM added. Australia will open its border for fully vaccinated tourists and all visa holders, almost two years after borders were first closed due to COVID-19.
