New York (USA), Aug 18 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar chaired the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Open Debate on 'Technology and Peacekeeping' at UN headquarters in New York on August 18. He said, “21st-century peacekeeping must be anchored in a strong ecosystem of technology and innovation that can facilitate UN peacekeeping operations in implementing their mandates in complex environments.” He further said, “It gives me great pleasure to announce that India is supporting the UN in rollout of UNITE Aware Platform across select peacekeeping missions. It's based on the expectation that a peacekeeping operation can be visualized, coordinated and monitored on real time basis. As a reflection of our deep commitment to ‘Protecting the Protectors’, Government of India provided 2,00,000 COVID-19 vaccine for UN Peacekeeping personnel worldwide in March this year. Peacekeeping continues to play a crucial role in India’s vision for international peace and security.”
