New York, April 21 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York on April 20. EAM S Jaishankar discussed the situation of violence-hit Sudan with the UN Secretary-General. While interacting with ANI after the meeting, Dr S Jaishankar informed that the UN is trying to establish a ceasefire in Sudan. “We had a very good meeting. Most of our meeting was on the Sudan situation. We also discussed the G20, and Ukraine conflict, but essentially it was about Sudan. In Sudan, the UN is trying to establish a ceasefire and that is really key because at the moment, unless there is a ceasefire and unless there are corridors, it's not safe for people really to come out,” said EAM Jaishankar. “I myself have spoken to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and UAE. We've been in touch with the Americans. I’ve also been in touch with my British counterpart. This morning I had a long conversation with the Egyptian foreign minister because they are a neighbour, they have a strong interest, and they have a strong understanding. So the focus is really how do you get the diplomatic processes to yield the desired result,” he further said.
