Devotees in Nepal mark Chhath with fanfare and gaiety

Lalitpur (Nepal), Nov 11, 2021, (ANI) :Regarded as the festival of purity, good will and faith, the Chhath, marked for four days kicked started from Monday. With women’s dip into the ponds preaching Sun God can be seen around major water resources of Kathmandu Valley.The festival celebrated especially in the Mithila Area or the Janakpur Dham is marked with much fanfare and enthusiasm now. On this auspicious day, the cuisines of grains and species such as millet, lentil, buckwheat and garlic are used during the celebration. The festival marked in the Southern Plains of Nepal especially in the Mithilanchal, the ancestral state of Goddess Sita has lately attracted the people from the hills. The trend of celebrating the festival of Chhath is believed to have started in the Hilly regions of Nepal after the political change of 1990 when the democracy got restored in the Himalayan Nation.
