Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 07 (ANI): Nepal so far has reported four deaths due to dengue as the infection reaches 75 out of 77 districts in the country. According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, a 38-year-old male patient died of dengue infection recently at Nepal Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur. With deaths being reported spontaneously, a serpentine line to purchase outpatient department (OPD) tickets as well as to get tested and show a report of dengue has become a common scene to be witnessed at Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Kathmandu. The communicable disease caused by mosquito bites has sent hundreds of people to hospitals in search of consultation and beds to get proper care, but some lucky ones only get to be there. Wards are already running out of capacity forcing many to sleep on the beds that are kept in the corridors or even lie on the ground. Nepali hospitals' capacity are being tested again with the dengue infection. According to doctors, approximately 90% of the 100 patients who have visited the hospital's emergency department have tested positive for dengue. Due to a lack of beds, the hospital has now forced two patients to share a bed in order to accommodate the increase. Whereas hospitals have been reporting dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. Dengue hemorrhagic fever can cause internal bleeding and a sudden drop in blood pressure. Doctors say dengue shock syndrome is a dangerous complication of dengue infection and is associated with high mortality.
