The UNHRC ‘Canada Review’ meet in Geneva gained attention as various countries discussed issues pertaining to Canada. During the meet on Nov 10, various countries discussed and shared their insights with Canada. Meanwhile, India schooled Canada and asked to prevent the misuse of freedom of expression on its soil. Supporting India, Bangladesh also schooled Canada and said that it should combat hate speech against migrants. However, Bangladesh also acknowledged and commended Canada's progress in human rights protection to combat human trafficking. Diplomatic relations between India and Canada soured after PM Trudeau’s allegations against India in killing of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar. However, recently PM Justin Trudeau toned down and said ‘fight’ with India is not something Canada wants right now. But at the same time standing by his allegations, PM Trudeau accused New Delhi of violating the Vienna Convention by "kicking out" 40 diplomats.
