ST. Louis (United States of America), Sep 17 (ANI): Nine police personnel were injured and at least 23 people were taken into custody during clashes between police and protesters after a former white policeman was acquitted of murder a black suspect. A peaceful rally turned violent, after a white ex-cop Jason Stockley was acquitted of murdering black motorist, Anthony Lamar Smith in 2011. Furious protesters attacked police with bricks and water bottles and also damaged public property. In reply, police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the demonstrators. Smith was shot five times in his car after trying to flee Stockley and his partner, following an alleged drug deal.
