New Delhi, Apr 19 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump has confirmed that CIA director Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) during a secret visit to Pyongyang. "Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong Un in North Korea last week. Meeting went very smoothly and a good relationship was formed. Details of Summit are being worked out now. Denuclearization will be a great thing for World, but also for North Korea!" Trump, wrote, in a Twitter post. The trip made by Pompeo, who was also Trump's pick for the state secretary to replace Rex Tillerson, was seen as an effort to lay the groundwork for direct talks between Trump and Kim Jong Un who are likely to meet in late May or early June. The meeting would be the first face-to-face encounter between a sitting US President and a North Korean leader, according to the report. The US president, during his meeting with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, said that Washington and Pyongyang have already commenced direct talks at "very high levels". The White House later clarified that the Trump has not yet talked directly with Kim.
