South China Sea, Mar 24 (ANI): China has said the United States has seriously harmed its sovereignty and security after a US Navy destroyer came within 12 nautical miles of an artificial island built by Beijing in the South China Sea. According to the US military, such operations are carried out throughout the world and are separate from political considerations. China dubbed the US' actions as 'provocative behaviour' and said that this will only cause their military to strengthen its defence capabilities. Whereas, the US has criticised China's construction of islands and build-up of military facilities, with concern they could be used to restrict free nautical movement.
