China allow couple to have three children, major policy shift

Updated:5 years ago

Beijing (China), May 31 (ANI): The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on May 31 made a announcement to end the two child policy and allow the married couples to have three children to boost the country’s declining birthrate and ageing population. The CCP permitted a dramatic shift in the world’s most restrictive family planning policies, though it wasn’t clear when the change will come in effect. This comes after the census 2020 showed alarming fall in country’s fertility rate. According to the seventh nationwide census of 2020, China’s population has grown by merely 5.38 per cent over the last 10 years. China’s birthrate has been on the decline since 2017, despite easing of the “one-child policy’.
