Chhath festival concludes in Nepal with fervour

Janakpur (Nepal), Nov 14 (ANI): Scores of devotees in Nepal, thronged water bodies to celebrate Hindu religious festival, 'Chhath', and prayed to the rising sun for the well-being and prosperity of children and spouse. Chhath, the festival dedicated to the Sun God concluded in the Mithila, Janakpurdham on Wednesday with devotees making offering to the rising Sun. The festival which has special significance in the Mithila Region is celebrated with the prayers for prosperity, happiness, and longevity of the family members by the fasters. The devotees who underwent fast since Monday from the day of Kartik Shukla Panchami made an offering of water and “Arghya” broke their fasting after making offering to rising sun. The devotees on Tuesday made offering to the setting sun offering various delicacies made sacredly which is distributed to others as Prasad with purity and cleanliness maintained. The holy dip into rivers, fasting and abstaining from even drinking water is an important part of the festival. The festival marked in the Southern Plains of Nepal especially in the Mithilanchal, the ancestral state of Goddess Queen Sita has been a center of attraction to the people all over the region.
