Moscow (Russia), Aug 08 (ANI/TV BRICS): The XVI Chekhov International Theatre Festival was organised in Russia’s capital Moscow. The special "on the streets of Moscow" program included a performance by the Indian group "Drishtikon dance foundation". The participants presented the art of classical dance to the public. "Chekhov Festival" is one of the most famous theatre forums in the world. The motto of the festival is: "Theatre is for people", so everyone can see performances on Moscow streets. A group of dancers from India prepared a special performance telling the story of an ancient Indian epic through dance. Production of the famous choreographer Aditi Mangaldas became the highlight of the international program. The performance is called "Utsav - a celebration of life." During the performance they perform Kathak, a classical Indian dance with a complex rhythm and fast movements, accompanied by the tinkling of bangles and bells worn by the performers - this creates a special sound effect in their performances. But the participants themselves want not only to pay tribute to the tradition but also to bring it to the thrust of modernity, combining it with other styles, forms, and directions. The international Chekhov festival was first held in 1992. Since then, the theatre forum has presented more than 600 plays from 54 countries. This year, the audience will see productions from 13 countries, including Brazil, china, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, and many more.
