Bridge over Mahakali river to strengthen Indo-Nepal ties, says Nepal’s Transport Minister

Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 05 (ANI): In a bid to strengthen ties between India and Nepal, both the neighbouring countries recently have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the newly project to build a bridge over Mahakali River. Mahakali Treety is an agreement between the two government for the development of watershed of Mahakali River. And the treaty was signed in 1996. It basically aims at an integrated development of water resources in the Mahakali River and has been finalized on the basis of equal partnership. Addressing the event, Nepal’s Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Renu Kumar has also opined that this project will boost the bilateral relations and people to people connection. Under the grant assistance of the Government of India, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for construction of a motorable Bridge over the Mahakali River connecting Dharchula (India) with Darchula (Nepal). Ambassador of India, Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Secretary along with Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Government of Nepal, Rabindra Nath Shrestha were present at the event. Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador Kwatra said the project's completion would establish a new foundation for economic prosperity in those areas which are connected. The construction of the bridge is planned to commence soon.
