Brexit won't hit ties with Britain, assures China

New Delhi, Feb 01 (ANI): Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday said China's relations with Britain will remain 'unchanged' through Brexit. Keqiang's statement comes while British Prime Minister Theresa May is on a three-day-long visit to China, where she aims to sign deals worth nine billion pounds. Wuhan University plays host to Theresa May for a demonstration on models. May seeks a new model for bilateral trade as Britain squares up to an era beyond, and outside, the EU. There cannot be a full trade accord until the UK's divorce with the EU next year. Meanwhile, China accounts for only 3 percent of British exports. Business from this trip is likely to amount to a modest nine billion pounds of deals. An agreement to lift a ban on British beef exports is also expected to be lifted. There were words of reassurance from Premier Li. China is keen to push its trillion dollar Belt and Road infrastructure project- that has 'potential,' according to May.
