Washington DC (USA) Jan 27 (ANI): The Indian community in the US celebrated India’s 74th Republic Day on January 26. Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu unfurled the national flag of India in Washington DC. American lawmakers of Indian origin Ro Khanna and Shri Thanedar gave an emotional tribute to India. Addressing the event, Ro Khanna said, “It's wonderful to see India and Indian-Americans thriving. A British-Indian is the Prime Minister of Britain. We celebrate the constitutional principles of India which are equality, liberty, pluralism and what that meant to the world, to Nelson Mandela & many movements.” Similarly, Shri Thanedar said, “I came to the US from India on a student Visa in 1979. I felt it isn't about accumulating wealth but about helping others in achieving the American dream. I'm focusing on closing the economic gap. India and US have so much to share, we need stronger India-US relations.”
