New York (USA), Oct 12 (ANI): India’s Minister of State External Affairs V Muraleedharan attended the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) High Level Open Debate on Peace-building and sustaining peace in New York, USA. “The country (Afghanistan) is facing conflicts or emerging from them. They are facing multiple challenges in their path of peacebuilding and sustaining peace. These are related to causative factors to conflicts and primarily involves ethnicity, race and religion which dominant identity markers in society,” said MoS MEA. “When we deal with countries coming out of conflicts and going into peacebuilding, putting in place strong legal framework and building credible institutions based on solid principles is critical. This will ensure that diversity is protected and inclusivity is fostered. We need to encourage countries that are contributing generously to peacebuilding in Africa and other regions. To ensure that those countries coming out of conflict are able to put an enduring framework that withstands the test of time,” added Muraleedharan.
