Gilgit Baltistan, 28 Aug, 2021: - Massive crowds have gathered all across the illegally occupied region of Gilgit Baltistan against the systemic failure that protesters say couldn’t deliver justice to Adiba Parveen. Adiba, who was in her early 20s, was allegedly hacked to death by her predatory in-laws, who then disposed of her body near the Shimshal River. What outraged the protesters more was that the suspects were out on bail in a matter of just two days even after confessing their crime? They accuse the police of shoddy investigation and the local judiciary of apathy. Protestors are now not just demanding a thorough investigation into the case but also an amendment into the criminal justice system that fast tracks trial and conviction procedure.
