Geneva (Switzerland), Mar 16 (ANI): Sindhi activists have accused Pakistan for its deliberate attempt to do away with Sindhi people as political activists are routinely being targeted, whereas the indigenous culture and language in Sindh is jeopardized. Speaking at a side event on the human rights situation in Sindh during the 37th Session of UN Human Rights Council, the Sindhi activists exposed Pakistan's oppressive policies in its Sindh province, which contributes to 70 percent of the country's GDP. Lakhu Luhana, Secretary General, World Sindhi Congress, while addressing the gathering said that "Pakistan Army fearlessly abduct people in Sindh in the daylight withour any remorse". Speaking to ANI, an activist of World Sindhi Congress, Dr. Hidayat Bhutto said, "Sindh is the lifeline of Pakistan and the country is surviving on Sindh, that's why, they are creating an atmosphere of fear because they are trying to develop CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) project and because of that a huge operation is going on against Sindhis, mainly Sindhi nationalists." "A huge operation is going on against Sindhis and we are against this situation. For example, seven million children are not going to school. In a Pakistan Supreme Court report, 80 percent of Sindhi people are not getting drinkable water. So, it's a type of genocide. 25 percent people are diseased because of hepatitis, tuberculosis and other diseases because of they are not provided clean water for drinking. So, this is a way of genocide of Sindhis," said Hidayat Bhutto. He concluded, "There is a cultural genocide going on as well, because they are trying to attack on our language and closing Sindhi schools."
