108-Meter Shawl Offered to Nepal’s Janaki Temple Amid Grand Bibah Panchami Festivities

Janakpur (Nepal), Dec 04 (ANI): A magnificent 108-meter-long Chunri (shawl) was offered to Nepal’s Janaki Temple by the Jin Mata Trust from Surat, Gujarat, as part of the vibrant Bibah Panchami celebrations. The striking red Chunri, symbolizing devotion, was paraded through the historic city of Janakpur, accompanied by throngs of enthusiastic devotees. The week-long Bibah Panchami festival, held annually in Janakpur, celebrates the divine wedding of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. This year’s festivities are particularly momentous, marking the first such celebration since the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya earlier this year. On Tuesday, the symbolic Barat (wedding procession) of Lord Ram arrived in Janakpur with grandeur. Around 500 devotees from Ayodhya joined as baratis, showcasing the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of India and Nepal. The divine wedding rituals will be performed by 40 Vedic Brahmins from Tirupati, who have traveled directly to Janakpur for the occasion. The festival has transformed Janakpur, the ancestral home of Goddess Sita, into a vibrant hub of devotion and celebration, steeped in the grandeur of its ancient traditions.
