New Delhi, April 20 (ANI): In a major blow to Congress in Punjab, Tajinder Singh Bittu and Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary joined BJP on April 20. Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary is the wife of Santokh Chaudhary who lost his life during Bharat Jodo Yatra in January 2023. She said she saw ignorance and disrespect from Congress after her husband’s death. She said, “My husband has served as cabinet minister twice in Punjab. In 2014 and 2019, he won the Lok Sabha Elections from Jalandhar. Serving the party till his last breath, he lost his life during Bharat Jodo Yatra. I have worked for 35 years as an English professor in Punjab. I am here today to support the progressive mindset of PM Narendra Modi. I pledge to work for the people of Punjab under PM Modi’s guidance. Loyalty is in my family’s blood, but it does not mean doing injustice to your self-respect. My husband showed his loyalty towards the party and sacrificed his life during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. But after that, I have seen Congress disrespecting and ignoring my husband’s contribution. With a heavy heart, I am saying that this is a time for Congress to do self-introspection. Now, I pledge to work for the people of Punjab till my last breath.”
