Amritsar (Punjab), September 30 (ANI): Ahead of winters, stubble burning has been reported from parts of Punjab, which is blamed for contributing to pollution in Delhi-NCR. “We don't have any option. Our demand is to give Rs 6,000 for stubble. We don't have any interest in burning stubble; it's a compulsion...," said a farmer in Amritsar.Earlier this week, Punjab Government submitted a State action plan and District-wise action plans for tackling the problem of stubble burning to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) for the current paddy harvesting season, an official statement said. The State Action Plan envisages at least a 50 per cent reduction in fire counts in Punjab during 2023 compared to last year. As per the data of 2022, the five districts of Punjab where the maximum crop-burning incidents were reported were Sangrur, Bathinda, Firozpur, Muktasar and Moga, which recorded about 44 per cent of total fire counts of the State.
