In a major escalation, Pakistan extensively used drones to attack India in the intervening night of May 08-09. However, India retaliated unequivocally in equal magnitude, neutralizing Pakistani drones, missiles and aircraft. Pakistan made failed attempts to send swarm drones across various places along LoC and international borders. India took down more than 50 drones during large-scale counter-drone operation conducted by Air Defence units. Engagement involved extensive use of L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, Schilka systems and other counter-UAS equipment. Pakistani army targeted areas of Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot in JandK. However, the efforts were failed by Indian Army demonstrating its robust capability to counter aerial threats. Pakistan’s aggression came after Indian Air Forces carried out pinpoint attacks on terrorist hotbeds in Pakistan, PoK on May 07. India destroyed terrorist hotspots under ‘Operation Sindoor’ in retaliation to Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
