During his visit to India, Chile's President Gabriel Boric took a moment to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the Ashoka Chakra on the Indian flag at Hyderabad House. As they walked towards the discussion room, President Boric paused near the flag, prompting PM Modi to explain the symbol in detail. The Indian national flag features a horizontal tricolor of deep saffron at the top, white in the center, and dark green at the bottom, all in equal proportions. Its dimensions are based on a 2:3 ratio, with a navy blue wheel the Ashoka Chakra at the center of the white band. The Chakra is modeled after the wheel seen on the Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka, with 24 spokes and a diameter that matches the width of the white band. President Boric’s visit, from April 1-5, was at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi and aims to strengthen economic, political, and cultural ties between the two nations. During his trip, Boric also met with India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, parliamentarians, senior officials, business leaders, media, and cultural representatives, all focused on enhancing India-Chile exchanges.
