Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), November 14 (ANI): Rescue operations continued for the third day to evacuate 40 workers trapped inside an under construction tunnel. Trucks laden with 900 mm diameter pipes started arriving at Silkyara since midnight. A portion of the under construction tunnel between Silkyara and Dandalgaon collapsed in the early hours of November 12. Meanwhile, on the rescue operations Mohsen Shahidi, DIG, NDRF, briefed about the rescue operation. Speaking to ANI, DIG said,"... Debris present there are being removed... The local administration has provided heavy machinery. Experts and engineers are present there. The NDRF, SDRF, and ITBP teams are present on standby... Experts are in an attempt to find a way... Communication has been established... The stranded workers are being provided with oxygen, water, and food. It is being told that it is an open area of nearly 50 metres where they are stranded. So they have space for movement... Attempts are being made to put steel pipes to reach them and rescue them... Hopefully, a way will be made soon and people will be rescued safely..." The tunnel was being constructed on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri national highway. The teams still have to clear about 35 metres of debris more to reach the location of the 40 trapped workers
