Uttarakhand, renowned for its spiritual and natural heritage, attracts millions of pilgrims and tourists every year. For decades, accessing the remote terrains of Uttarakhand has been a challenge, particularly during the monsoon season. However, the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail line is poised to transform this experience entirely. This project represents a revolutionary step and forms an integral part of Indian Railways' Char Dham Yatra route. Once operational, it will provide a smooth and reliable mode of transportation, linking the spiritual hub of Rishikesh with the picturesque town of Karnaprayag. With 17 tunnels and 35 bridges, the 125-kilometer-long rail line is meticulously designed to overcome the region's geographical challenges. Approximately 105 kilometers of the route will traverse through tunnels, ensuring an all-weather passage and year-round connectivity. This project will significantly reduce travel time while offering a safer and faster alternative to road travel.
