Tirupati Temple Stampede: Death toll rises to 6; PM Modi, Amit Shah, EAM Jaishankar express grief

Six persons lost their lives and several others sustained injuries after a stampede broke out at the Tirupati Temple on Jan 08. The incident occurred near Vishnu Niwasam close to Tirumala Srivari Vaikuntha Dwara ticketing counter, during the distribution of 'darshan' tokens. The stampede was caused due to "overcrowding", said the Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, deputy CM Pawan Kalyan are closely monitoring the situation. PM Modi, HM Amit Shah, and EAM S Jaishankar expressed grief over the loss of lives in Tirupati stampede. TTD Chairman BR Naidu visited the Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati to meet the injured.
