New Delhi, March 04 (ANI): Supreme Court on March 04 ruled that an MP or MLA cannot claim immunity from prosecution in bribery cases. Apex Court pronounced a landmark verdict by a seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. Meanwhile, PM Modi said that the SC’s verdict will ensure clean politics, deepen people’s faith in the system. In a unanimous view, the SC's Constitution Bench overruled the 1998 judgement in the PV Narasimha Rao case. The Apex Court said that the interpretation of Narasimha Rao's judgment is contrary to Articles 105, 194 of the Constitution.
