Description: Surat (Gujarat) April 12, 2025, ANI: Surat, Gujarat, has launched India’s first solar-powered bus charging station, marking a significant step toward sustainable urban mobility. Located in Althan, the facility operates entirely on 100 kW solar panels, generating 400–450 units of clean energy daily. What sets it apart is its “Waste to Best” model—using 28 refurbished batteries (224 kWh capacity) to store solar power, promoting circular energy use. This innovative initiative aligns with the Central Government’s Green Energy Mission, making Surat a trailblazer in eco-friendly public transport and setting a benchmark for other cities to follow.
