Ganderbal (J&K), July 30 (ANI): Support sticks are playing a vital role in the Amarnath Yatra, offering pilgrims improved stability and safety on the rugged terrain leading to the holy cave. Production and sale of Support sticks are creating valuable employment opportunities for the local vendors of Sonamarg. Pony wallas, taxi operators, shopkeepers, tea stall owners, Support stick sellers are also doing good business during the Yatra. Vendors who sell support sticks often set up tents at the Baltal base camps, where they carefully prepare the sticks to ensure they have the proper grip and size. Thousands of pilgrims are purchasing these support sticks at the rate of 40 to 50 rupees per piece, resulting in good business for locals. Notably, Amarnath Yatra, which commenced formally on June 29, is scheduled to conclude on August 19.
