Southern Railway Zone is witnessing a significant transformation with around 90 stations being modernized under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Key stations like Chennai's St. Thomas Mount, Mahe in Puducherry, and Sullurupeta in Andhra Pradesh are being revamped with upgraded infrastructure, enhanced passenger amenities, and improved accessibility. Features such as modern ticket counters, digital displays, better parking, granite platforms, escalators, and real-time information systems are redefining commuter experience. Passengers are already appreciating the metro-like convenience and smooth travel. This modernization drive marks a new era of efficient, comfortable, and future-ready railway infrastructure in Southern India.
