Special Operations Group in action in J&K’s Poonch, search ops launched after suspicious movement

Poonch (J&K) May 03 (ANI): Security has heightened in parts of J&K as Lok Sabha Elections 2024 advances to the fourth phase in the UT. After encounters in Rajouri and Udhampur, inputs of suspicious movement were received from Poonch. As per police, two unidentified persons were spotted in Poonch district in the wee hours of May 03. In a quick response, JKP Anti-Militancy Task Force launched a massive search operation in the district. Well-equipped with arms and ammunition, the security forces also held a search in the local villages, fields. Earlier, on April 22, a resident of Rajouri was killed in a targeted attack by unidentified assailants. Days later, 1 VDG was killed in encounter between terrorists and security forces in Udhampur on April 28. A search operation is still on in the area to track down terrorists in the cover of thick vegetation. Notably, the 5 Lok Sabha Constituencies in J&K are undergoing polls in six phases.
