Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir ) Feb 6, (ANI): In the Winter Season, Wildlife SOS provided a special diet to Himalayan Black Bears to aid them during their natural hibernation period at the rehabilitation centre of Dachigam National Park in Jammu and Kashmir on February 6. Due to heavy snowfall in the upper reaches and cold weather conditions, regular food sources became scarce for these bears. However, under the care of Wildlife SOS, the bears received a specially formulated diet throughout the year, with a particular focus on the winter months. This diet, consisting of heavy bread made from corn flour, milk, eggs, honey, dates, and fruits, helped maintain the bears’ body temperature and ensured their well-being. Despite natural instinct of black bears to enter deep hibernation during the winter, people in the rehabilitation centre remained active, requiring daily feeding schedules and attention from Wildlife SOS. The organisation meticulously looked after the bears, providing them with suitable shelter and nutritious meals to support their health and survival during the challenging Winter Season.
