Southern Railway set to launch first AC EMU for passenger services

Indian Railways is rapidly modernising to make passenger journeys smoother, safer, and more comfortable. In this effort, an increasing number of advanced coaches are being manufactured. One of the finest production units of Indian Railways, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, has been fulfilling the demand for modern coaches for many years. The ICF has recently manufactured its first 12-car air-conditioned EMU train for southern railway. This state-of-the-art train features automatic sliding doors, stainless steel seats, CCTV cameras, a passenger talk-back system, and a GPS-based LED display. With a seating capacity of 1,116 passengers, it can run at a maximum speed of 110 km per hour.
