Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), November 21 (ANI): In a major breakthrough in the Silkyara Tunnel Rescue operation, a 6-inch lifeline pipe reached trapped workers on November 20. Trapped for 9 days, the 41 workers who have been battling for life for over a week survived merely on fruits. NHIDCL Director Anshu Manish Khulko said that fresh food, juice, and medicines are being provided to the trapped workers. Director Khulko also said that the breakthrough created an atmosphere of joy among the workers, which now motivates them to "go with full force” to evacuate them. Meanwhile, Colonel Deepak Patil said that preparations to send a mobile phone, charger, and set up a WiFi connection are being made. Notably, the workers were trapped after an under-construction tunnel from Silkyara to Barkot in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi collapsed on November 12. Rescue operations in all possible ways have been underway since the unfortunate incident occurred.
