As Ahmedabad moves round the clock, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services remains on constant vigil. During 2024–25, the department saved 678 lives, controlled 2,835 fire incidents, and carried out 3,606 rescue operations, reflecting its critical role in urban safety. Recent rescues include saving a trapped BRTS driver within an hour after a bus crashed into a bridge pillar, and swift response to a sudden building collapse in the Gheekanta area. Backed by modern equipment, trained teams, and AMC’s plan to set up fire stations every 10 km along with recruitment of 200 personnel, the service aims to further reduce response time. While the city sleeps, its firefighters stay alert, risking their lives to protect others.
