New Delhi, February 15 (ANI): Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar on February 15 talked about need to give impetus on maritime discourse and need to enhance consciousness regarding understanding of significance of seas. He said, India is the only country having a name of sea with her name and seeing the contemporary time it’s an opportune moment for India to reaffirm the role of maritime power in her rise and relevance. He said, “We need to cultivate a deeper understanding of the significance of the seas - not just as a source of trade but as a strategic domain impacting our security, economy and environment. So, this necessitates raising the maritime awareness and then enhancing consciousness in youth, encouraging maritime research and promoting maritime-related careers. As the only country in the world to have an ocean named after her, we are endowed with a distinct maritime geography...It's an opportune moment today to remember and reaffirm the role of maritime power in her rise and relevance.”
