Leh (Ladakh) September 26 (ANI): President Droupadi Murmu visited Siachen Base Camp in Ladakh on September 26. During her visit, the president interacted with the troops posted there. The visit marked her first to Siachen and her second to the Ladakh region, as her planned trip in October 2023 was cancelled due to bad weather. The President was accompanied by senior officials of the Indian Army. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the Siachen Base Camp and interacted with the soldiers. Addressing the soldiers, the President said that as the supreme commander of the armed forces, she felt very proud of them and that all citizens saluted their bravery. The Siachen Glacier, located in the Karakoram Range, is the world’s highest military-occupied region, with the Indian Army establishing control over it in April 1984 under Operation Meghdoot.
