Gujarat is emerging as a leader in cancer care, with the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and Mukhyamantri Amrutum (MA) scheme providing free treatment to over 2 lakh cancer patients in the last six years. The Gujarat government has allocated ₹2,855 crore for quality care, with the Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI) at the forefront. GCRI has registered 26,000 cases from across the state and neighboring regions, offering over 2 lakh chemotherapy sessions. In 2024, it organized 78 screening camps, benefiting 7,700 individuals. These efforts make Gujarat a hub for accessible cancer treatment, ensuring equitable healthcare for all.
