‘PM Modi visits Russia and Ukraine but…’ Congress tears into BJP over Manipur violence

Updated:1 year, 10 months ago

New Delhi, September 11 (ANI): At a press conference in the national capital on September 11, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate criticized Prime Minister Modi for failing to visit Manipur since violence broke out in the state in May 2023. She pointed out that the state has been in turmoil for 16 months, yet the Prime Minister has shown no concern by not visiting. Shrinate also condemned PM Modi for prioritizing visits to countries like the USA, France, Britain, Greece, Russia, and Ukraine, accusing him of neglecting the state's ongoing crisis. “16 months have passed since Manipur is burning...A new kind of violence has erupted in Manipur. In the last 10 days, about 11-12 people have died in Manipur in the violence. RPGs are now being waved in Manipur. Drones are being used in villages in Manipur. A former CM's house in Manipur is being attacked with rockets. Stones are being pelted at the house of the Governor...A state of this country has been burning for the last 16 months and the Prime Minister of this country does not have even a minute to go to Manipur...He visits America, France, Britain, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, but does not go to Manipur. Is it acceptable for any decent government in a democracy that the Prime Minister of this country has left a state to burn on its own”, said Supriya Shrinate.
