Pamban (TN), June 30 (ANI): Construction of the new railway bridge at Pamban, the gateway to Rameswaram island, has been underway since 2020. While 1.6 km of the bridge has been completed, 500 meters remain under construction. The drawbridge, designed with modern electric lift technology, was relocated to its designated area on March 13. Engineers installed four steel piers and attached iron plates and wheels to lift the drawbridge using a hydraulic system. Completion of the bridge is expected soon, with train service anticipated to start shortly thereafter.
