New Delhi, September 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to CJI DY Chandrachur’s residence to attend the Ganapati Puja has sparked controversy in the political community with several opposing leaders questioning the visit. The opposition is alleging that the visit could potentially tamper the decision of the court in favor of the Central Government. Speaking on the same, Bar Council of India Chairman and BJP's Rajya Sabha MP, senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra refuted all the claims of the opposition by terming the visit as truly religions citing that the Prime Minister is a religious person and that he went there just to offer prayers.Addressing the concern of the opposition, he said that if they had such motive then the meeting would have taken place confidentially. “I would not like to say much but those who are involved in cases will object a little...They know that this will not affect any Supreme Court judgement, this was a social-religious function. PM went there and offered prayers and then he returned. If there had to be some different kind of meeting, it would have been done confidentially. They would have talked on FaceTime or WhatsApp. But mocking these meetings...Yesterday, a politician visited abroad and met anti-India elements but neither Sanjay Raut nor any Congress leader speaks on it. But if PM visited the CJI, instead of appreciating the good coordination between judiciary and executive it is being objected to”, said Manan Kumar Mishra. Speaking on the visit, Rajya Sabha MP and Kapil Sibal said, “I saw something being circulated on the social media and quite frankly I was taken aback. I have been in the Supreme Court and in this institution for over 50 years...I have great respect for the present CJI...I was surprised when I saw this clip that was going viral. I have some issues on principles- no public functionary should not publicise a private event. I am sure that maybe the CJ may not have known that this was being publicised, the PM should never have shown his interest to go to such a private event...If there is gossip around it, it is not fair to the institution.”
